DEQ Islandwide Cleanup: Fiesta Resort & Spa and Century Insurance

Fiesta Resort Hotel  and Century Hotel joined the Islandwide Clean-up day on April 16th.  There were 51 volunteers who cleaned Makaka Beach including beach road side from Fiesta up to ABC store.  A total of 38 bags of trash was collected, weighing in at approximately 200 lbs.

Film events for Environmental Awareness Month

Thanks to everyone that voted throughout March for the films that will be showing during Environmental Awareness Month.  The results are now in!  Help us spread the word about the events this April.  All the films will be shown at the American Memorial Park Visitors center.

Sign the Petition OPPOSING Power Poles to be Installed at Marpi Area!

The Office for Capital Improvement Projects is proposing the installation of new power poles to provide additional lighting at Marpi area. However, MINA would like to ask the community to join our efforts and oppose such projects that will change, and possibly ruin the natural and serene beauty that Marpi provides to the local residents and tourists alike. Although the installation of the power poles may be made temporary to accomodate future underground installation of ground power wires, we would like to be given the opportunity to voice our concerns and offer alternative solutions other than what is being currently proposed.

CTSI Susupe Clean Up

2010 Environmental Champion award winners CTSI Logistics were out on Saturday, March 26, 2011, working hard at Susupe Park. In just two hours --- 8 am to 10 am --- a total of 21 volunteers collected 95 bags of trash estimated at 3800 lbs!

Tan Holdings Adopt-A-Pavilion Initiative Celebrates Its First Birthday!

March 26, 2011, Saturday. The Adopt-A-Pavilion initiative of Tan Holdings just turned one year and is looking forward to a continuing commitment to be an environmental stewards through their own initiatives and participation in various island-wide environmental projects and programs.

A total of 30 volunteers from L&T Group of Companies, Century Insurance, and Saipan Tribune participated in the clean-up drive and collected a truckload of about 420 lbs or 34 bags of trash from the pavilion in front of JP Center all the way to the 13th Fishermen's Memorial.

POI Aviation Clean-up

As part of its commitment to preserve the environment, management and staff of POI Aviation once again gathered together and did the clean up at Ladder Beach last March 25, Friday, from 3:30 PM to 5PM. A total of 27 employees participated and collected about 22 bags or approximately 55 kilos of trash. The company will soon be adopting Ladder Beach and be in partnership with MINA in installing recycle bin within the area.

MVA and NMDOA join in two clean ups in March

MVA along with the NMDOA did its monthly clean up yesterday, March 31, 2011, at the Lau Lau Beach Dive Spot. Total Trash collected was about 40 lbs of trash in Lau Lau and bush cut the area as well.

Daishi Hiroki, Director of NMDOA (Peace Divers Corp), and NMDOA members also did a recent clean up at the Grotto, where 17 people picked up a total 30lbs of trash.

Thank you to the staff at MVA and NMDOA and its members for taking time out of your schedule to help clean up around Saipan. Our home is a better, more beautiful place for both residents and visitors alike, because of your effort and generosity --- THANK YOU!!!
