Schools to vie for recycling crown

The Saipan Chamber of Commerce and its partners in the Beautify CNMI! movement announced the launching of the 3rd Annual School Recycling Competition, in observance of CNMI Recycles Day 2006.

From Sept. 15 to Nov. 15, all public and private schools (K-12) in the CNMI will be competing for great prizes by recycling the following accepted materials: aluminum, cardboard, paper, metal, glass, and plastics. Prizes will be given to the top three schools with the highest per-student recycling rate at the CNMI Recycles Day 2006 Award Ceremony, slated for Saturday, Nov. 18, 2006.

"We urge all our members to support CNMI Recycles Day by donating cash and/or in-kind contributions for school prizes. In return for your contribution, your company will be recognized and promoted in press releases and/or other media before, during, and after the CNMI Recycles Day event on Nov. 18," the Chamber said in a statement.

Companies can also participate in the recycling competition by sponsoring a school. They may bring the accepted recyclables to the Lower Base Transfer Station and give the name of the school that they would like to be the recipient of their recycling contribution.
